Wild Greenland Escape

Venture to the fjord-laced coast of western Greenland, where hardy Inuit communities perched at the edge of the Greenland ice cap carry on their timeless way of life. Explore archaeological sites and vibrant modern-day villages, glide into breathtaking fjords by Zodiac or kayak, watch for the Northern Lights as we explore the ins and outs of this rugged coastline. Take an unforgettable cruise amid the massive icebergs of the Illulissat Icefjord and meet local people who live off the land and sea as their ancestors before them did for millennia.

Expedition Highlights

  • Explore the dramatic coastline of West Greenland by water and on foot, kayaking stunning fjords and hiking across the tundra on the lookout for wildlife.
  • Delve into Greenlandic culture and history at the outstanding museum of Sisimiut and meet with residents of Uummannaq Island to learn about everyday life.
  • Hike the Sermermiut Valley to a promontory overlooking the mouth of the Ilulissat Icefjord and take in extraordinary views of the iceberg-choked bay.
  • Visit the archaeological site at Qilakitsoq, where remarkably well-preserved 500-year-old mummies were found in 1972.

About National Geographic Resolution

Ship Overview
National Geographic Resolution
Our second new polar build, National Geographic Resolution is named to honor the second voyage of the legendary Captain James Cook.

A fully-stabilized vessel of the highest ice class (PC5 Category A), she will enable adventurous guests to go where few have or can. Resolution’s most striking exterior feature is her distinctive profile, the patented X-Bow®, a game-changing design that guarantees the smoothest, most comfortable ride in all kinds of conditions; and since it eliminates bow impact, a quieter ride, as well. An equally impressive feature may well be her capacity: she carries just 138 guests, a commitment to expedition excellence over scale. Scandinavian-inflected, luxuriously appointed, her inviting interiors would be a destination in themselves. Because she is a Lindblad expedition ship, however, her attention is focused on the world outside—with acres of window glass to keep you connected to the stunning views beyond the pane, and a fleet of expedition tools to get you out exploring.
